Bicara Ilmu: Environmental Conservation: From Computer Modeling to Global Agenda

The practice of cycling and walking contributes to sustainable lifestyles and environmental conservation. The Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) initiated the 'Cycling to Office' program to support the government's efforts in environmental conservation. According to the Secretary-General of KASA, Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang, commuting within a 5 km radius of Putrajaya takes only 10 to 15 minutes, and he himself has cycled 14 km in about 35 minutes from his residence in Bangi to the office. This practice reduces fuel consumption, traffic congestion, and promotes a carbon-free environment. He emphasizes the importance of adopting simple, cost-effective measures for energy and water conservation, suggesting that 30% energy savings can be achieved through such practices. He spoke at the Symposium on Environmental Conservation: From Computer Modeling to Global Agenda, alongside leaders and experts from UMP, as part of efforts to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) achievement.
