Trees Planting Programme

UMP is actively involved in trees planting programme since 2015 through various participations among staff and students. In 2015 the total number of trees planted was 1,435 followed by 979 in 2016 (Table 3). Our criteria in selecting the trees for these programme include aromatic and medicinal plants, native species, fast growing species, species that provide shade as well as trees that can grow in natural coastal ecosystem. These criteria are important to ensure success of the trees planting programme and its ability to grow and sustain in this harsh environment, contributing to greening of the campus.
