One second digital registration, new UMP students register at two campuses at once

Kuantan, 7 February – Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) introduced digital registration for 460 new February intakes that took place at both Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) campuses today for their undergraduate studies.

The new QR code-based mobile app eRegistration system makes it easy for students to register in one second. They simply need to display the QR code on their mobile phones, and the staff will scan the QR code. New UMP students can download this application. However, registration can still be carried out using the hostel slip that also has a QR code to be used on the day of registration.

During this registration session, the university also welcomed 28 international students, including those from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, Sudan, Mauritius, Yemen and China. Meanwhile, 36 international students from the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HsKA) Jerman, Institut Teknologi Indonesia, Suleyman Demirel University (Kazakhstan), United International University (Bangladesh), Universitas Negeri Semarang (Indonesia), HITEC University (Pakistan) and Kongu Engineering College (India) enrolled in a mobility programme for one semester at UMP.

At the same time, UMP Foundation also presented the UMP Education Incentive and Yayasan Bank Rakyat Education Assistance for 16 qualified students. These aids was presented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dr. Ts. Mohd Rosli Hainin. The Dean of Students Services, Student Affairs & Alumni Department, Associate Professor Dr. Mansor Sulaiman delivered the aids for students at UMP Gambang. Also present at the Office of Residential College 3 was the Director of University Health Centre, Dr. Khairul Salleh Abdul Basit.

Following UMP’s concern about the risk of the spread of diseases such as COVID-19 among university associates, recently UMP management made several decisions as proactive measures for maximum prevention and regulation seeing that the university also has international students from China. For the time being, all activities and trips by staff and students to China are under immediate postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The directive includes advising staff and students who intend to go to China to postpone their journey besides preparing to perform rigorous screening on UMP associates who had recently returned from China whether returning from semester break or students who had newly arrived in Malaysia.

“The university asks that students returning from their semester break or have recently arrived from China to undergo a local health screening at the University Health Centre (PKU) before proceeding with their respective activities. Besides following the screening procedure by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) at the airport, they must also undergo a health screening at the university to ensure that there is no threat or risk to other UMP associates,” said Dr. Khairul.

UMP also took proactive measures to provide information on prevention steps that comply with guidelines from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and MOH. Meanwhile, PKU is always in close contact with the District Health Office to inform any new development about the pandemic via official university channel.
