NO PLASTIC DAY CAMPAIGN

UMP Pekan Campus organised a Zero Polystyrene Campaign in a move to encourage all campus denizens to support the green campus cause aimed at helping to reduce pollution and for them to practise a healthy lifestyle.  Every Tuesday and Wednesday is fixed as days that are free of polystyrene at the residential colleges. The campaign is then extended, covering Monday until Sunday and streamlined it to cover the rest of the campus.  Chemical substance in the polystyrene food container can seep into food and cause cancer. The polystyrene food container itself contributes to pollution, contributing to the increase in garbage and the rate of global warming. As such, one of the ways to lessen the adverse impacts on the environment is by replacing polystyrene food containers with quality food containers approved by the Health Department.
