SUSTAINABLE TRAINING

The practice of cycling and walking are sustainable lifestyle habits that contribute to environmental conservation. The Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) is the first ministry to implement the 'Cycle to Work' program, supporting government efforts to preserve the environment. According to the Secretary-General of KASA, Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang, commuting within a 5 km radius of Putrajaya takes only about 10 to 15 minutes, and he himself has cycled 14 km in approximately 35 minutes from his residence in Bangi to the office. This practice not only reduces fuel consumption and traffic congestion but also promotes a carbon-free environment.

He emphasizes the importance of adopting simple and cost-effective measures to conserve energy and water. It is estimated that 30% energy savings can be achieved through conservation practices, followed by increasing efficiency levels.

Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang attended the Talk on Science: Environmental Conservation: From Computer Modeling to Global Agenda alongside prominent figures such as the Chairman of UMP's Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, UMP's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Ts. Dr. Yusserie Zainuddin, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, and top management of UMP.

This sustainable lifestyle expert sharing program, organized by the Institute of Civilization and Strategic Studies UMP (ITKAS), is part of UMP's efforts to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
