THE UMP-MARA COOPERATION

UMP will form a strategic cooperation with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) involving an incubator project that produces halal gelatine. EPU has given the approval to MARA to utilise the allocation for the project. The agency has chosen the premise in UMP and will make use a four acre land that has sufficient water resource and sound infrastructure facility such power supply, drainage system and communication system. MARA will spend RM20 million in the incubator project and the agency aims to produce entrepreneurs in the field. The incubator project will be located at the Industrial Technology Engineering Creativity Space (ITECS) in UMP Pekan.

This project and its facility will be able to offer industrial training opportunities to students and will help enhance the capacity or CPD point collection for IR purposes for lecturers. It can provide jobs to UMP undergraduates and increase the possibilities of creating spillover companies. It will not only bring specific benefits to UMP but also provide job opportunities to locals. This strategic cooperation will increase the general skills of the people.
