Having two large campuses, in Pekan and in Gambang, UMP’s electricity consumption is huge. UMP’s electricity bill in Pekan Campus alone in 2015 amounted to RM 5,868,393 (US$ 1,317,206), averaging about RM 489,030 (US$ 109,770) per month. It is imperative therefore for the university to implement its energy savings programmes effectively. Initiatives to save energy and be more efficient in our use of electricity directly translates to our prudence in managing the university’s operational budget, while at the same time contribute towards reducing the university’s carbon footprint.
